A house in Hazelwood, Missouri had been in the family for a long time. The current owner had gone through a divorce and made the difficult decision to rent a house just across the river in St. Charles, so he could remain in the school district required and keep the current custody arrangements. We provided information on the process, options, and how we could help. The owner was just going to give up, but after a free foreclosure consultation and multiple discussions, he decided it was best to borrow money from family, reinstate the mortgage, sell (it needed very minor repairs), then pay back family and likely walk away with a small amount of money. Worst case scenario was possibly selling one of his toys (a dirt bike) and bring a small amount of money to closing. While this may not be ideal, it’s a small price to pay to avoid foreclosure and all that comes along with it.
